Member feedback from recent surveys suggests that our members would like to enhance their presentation skills. We listened. On September 28, 2026, LLC offered members a free PowerPoint Basics Webinar session featuring expert Janel Twogood. It was designed for participants with little or no experience with PowerPoint and focused on the technical aspects of acquiring, downloading, and using PowerPoint for class presentations. We have provided the instructional video, along with Janel's helpful guide and PDF companion.

The Webinar was designed in conjunction with our Fall 2026 "Building Presentation Skills" course. Coordinated by Olin Thompson, the five-week course will focus on how to make interesting and effective use of PowerPoint (or equivalent) software, how to organize a presentation, and how to gain confidence in public speaking. This is a hands-on practice class useful for members at every skill level, designed for participants who already know how to create slides but want to become better at the overall process of making a presentation.
Olin Thompson, a former executive in the computer software industry, has designed corporate and sales presentations. His past includes years of public speaking including presentations for both large and small audiences. He is an award-winning public speaker and a member of LLC.
Janel Twogood was educated in the fine arts and a graduate of The Cooper Union. Her work explores the hidden potential of materials, objects, and their stories—finding value in what is overlooked, discarded, or unseen. Her practice spans industrial design and production, sustainability, graphic design and print, education, and the visual arts, all connected by a curiosity about how materials and creative processes can reveal new possibilities. Most recently (2026) Twogood’s work was recognized by the 7 Lakes Alliance and the Janis Trust with an artistic residency in Belgrade Lakes, ME. She focuses on community-based projects, studio art, writing, teaching, and select consulting engagements. She has taught at RISD’s program for Continuing Education, at the Norton (MA) Institute for Continuing Education, and through the Rotary club of Sharon, MA. Twogood is fluent in the use of computer presentation and website software and in helping people of all ages to develop the skill set to engage in meaningful communication of their ideas and projects.
